Giving back together

Hotel team members helped clean the Igarapé do Gigante, an Amazon river that begins in Manaus with the organisation Projeto Remada, collecting 25 bags of waste.

Our team at the Intercontinental Cairo Semiramis gave back to the community by donating clothes, food, school supplies, face masks and hand sanitizers to local children. Colleagues also donated blood and planted trees in the local area.

Holiday Inn Express and Foster Angels on Earth –

For the month of September 2022, the management team and staff members at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ft. Washington have committed to collecting donation items on behalf of Foster Angels on Earth, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of foster children.

Sadly enough, when a child is placed in the foster care system, it is usually without warning and preparation time for the foster family. The majority of the time, the child arrives with only the clothes that they are wearing. Foster Angels on Earth provides a bag with a 3 day supply of clothes, shoes, toiletries and additional items based on the age of the child.

For this reason, we came together and collect new Items Only. Monetary donations. And in addition we were able to gather 21 backpacks!!! Big shout out to Angelina, Francesca and Isabella!

The hotel team supported and organisation called Victorias pela Vida by donating food, clothing, children’s activities, and more.  

Our team at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort donated 30,000 gift basket including rice, instant noodles, canned fish and meat, dried fish, fish sauce, cooking oil and vegetables to local families in difficult living conditions.

As part of IHG’s Giving for Good month, voco Dubai donated linen to Sewing Hope for Armenia, an organisation founded to provide sustainable employment for women refugees of Nagorno-Karabakh. The linen donated has been given to refugees who had lost their homes in the recent Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in Armenia.

For 3 months from March and throughout May 2020, Miguel, the hotel chef, and Josefina, one of the cooks, partnered with the World Central Kitchen, leading a group of 35 volunteers to help prepare and distribute 1 million meals a day!

Organised “Adopt a Family” to help IHG hotel employees that were negatively impacted by the Louisiana hurricanes. 23 IHG families were adopted by IHG employees through an online sign-up. Essential items were collected & delivered to team members around the state in efforts to help people put their lives back together, one family at a time.

Volunteered as trainers for a Phuket Rajabhat University project on housekeeping skills training, for those unemployed from COVID-19.

Collaborated with a main suppliers to provide hotel employees with fresh produce via a drivethru system. Additionally, due to a milk surplus, provided baked goods for hotel employees.

As director of Food & Beverage, Ernesto Castillo delivered a food donation to St. Felix Centre in support of their Community Meals Program which serves 20,000+ meals per month. The shelter is dedicated to providing support to some of the most marginalized individuals in Toronto’s downtown core.

Participated in the local campaign “Braiding smiles”, a campaign that aims to collect hair to make wigs for children who are fighting cancer.
